Night Life - Chapter 4: Above Ground
Sixthday, Tiber 1, 645; Journal of Jonathan Gull, age at time of entry: 13, Scholar of Antrum City
The last I had been above ground would be… six years ago give or take. I was young back then, too young to know why we needed to constantly move from city to city, too young to know what pain or loss felt like, and too young to understand many other things. Yet I understood much, too much for a child that age, far too much.
However, I’m glad to say that I did not understand things like admiration. I say glad because I can now fully enjoy this night sky with all of its glory. Those twinkling lights above my head made such a bea

I believe I once said that loneliness was the most awful experience to befall a man.
I would like to make a small correction. Loneliness may be the worst mental and spiritual experience…however after seeing…that, I must confess I may have no idea what I was talking about.
Let me explain. Today, I witnessed an Exile. I believe it is my first time seeing it, or rather my first time seeing and truly understanding what was going on. It was…enlightening to say the least.
Let me further explain for the future, in cas

It occurs to me that the people of the past had vastly different coloration in hair, eyes, and skin pigmentation. Therefore, I shall make an entry detailing the current generation’s coloration in hopes that the future may make use of it.
To be perfectly blunt, from what I have seen, our coloration is mostly the same. Pale. Pale skin and pale hair. I have yet to see a black haired person or a dark skinned person, or even a tan skinned person. The darkest hair color I have ever seen would have been a rather light shade of brown. Thankf

Seeing as how I said I would document as much as I can about our culture, I surmise that knowing the jobs we do is vital to that. Though I do recognize the importance of writing today’s events. Therefore, I shall do both.
So firstly a recount of today’s events……….

I find it surprising that there was such a reasonable decree made in years past. I suppose you cannot become a part of the council without some reason. However, I still find it quite shocking that they ordered everyone to keep a Journal at all times and to record daily. I mean, sure, it’s quite obvious now that such daily recordings is absolutely vital in order to avoid losing current information. At the very least, if the people eons ago did something like this, we wouldn’t have such trouble finding out how exactly they made

I believe the most awful experience in the world would have to be loneliness.
…Yes, it is a truly terrible disease. It seeps into your very being and tears your body to pieces, from the inside out. Its chill curls around the pit of your stomach, sending shivers of emptiness, robbing you of excitement and life. Worst of all are the awful, dreadful things it will do to your head, loudly, proudly, mockingly informing you of your isolation every waking moment, like a particularly rude earthquake. Truly, a monster in your own mind it

Night Life - Prologue: An Excerpt from History
In my findings, I am surprised to hear a constant mention of a mysterious ball of light that illuminates the upper land, something so bright that even the sacred moon cannot compare, something that can turn all of the dark in the night sky to a brilliant blue. It’s not that I find this to be unbelievable, indeed the experiences of the traders and my own confirm something shining above us in the sky during daytime. What I am surprised to hear is that they survived in that light.
By my estimates, roughly 1000 years ago, people actually were active during the day. No, sorry, that was an understatement. They thrived during the day. Dr
